Live Streaming apps Meerkat and Periscope came onto the social media scene with a bang.  Unlike other social media apps, they must be planned out. Most brands are attempting to figure out how to use these apps effectively.  Below is a short list of ways to use Meerkat and Periscope.

Meerkat vs. Periscope:
The concept for these live streaming may be the same, but each app is different. The best recommendation is to try them both out and see which one is better for your brand.

Live Troubleshooting:

A great way to engage your customers is live stream frequently asked questions.   Frist, plan a date and time you are for the live stream. Then, find a room to host it.  After that, determine who is going to be hosting the live stream event, and what materials the person might need. It might be a good idea to have a second person on hand just in case anything goes wrong. Once that is done, give a list of questions you will cover, and ask your customers if they have any questions.

Live Stream the Building Process

Does your business make products? Then, show your customers how their product is being made from start to finish. This is a great way to showcase your stellar product is made. If you’re concerned about patents or trade secrets, then plan ahead and make sure to leave out that certain aspect of the process. Once a customer orders a product, you can email them about the date and time when you will be live streaming their product. Encourage them to ask questions, and respond the questions in a timely manner. Make sure to give proper lead time for your team, and the customer. Email them reminders as well.

Live Shots of the Conference

Conferences are a great opportunity to meet people and learn new or better ways of growing your business or personal brand. It can also be very exhausting. While planning the conference it may be a great idea to live stream some of your presenters. Ask them questions, and give your audience a taste of what’s to come. Ask your presenters to give a brief summary of their presentation. Try to find any areas that may be hard to find. Then write out a plan for what your team will be live streaming during the conference. Use some of your employees or interns as live streaming representatives. This can show where they are for people who need help. The conference employees can ask questions in real-time, and it brings a cohesive experience to the conference. You can also use this to live stream on a budget.

Webinars

Webinar software can be expensive. The best alternative is Google Hangouts, but that can have technical difficulties. Meerkat and Periscope can make bootstrapping a webinar cheap and effective. This will be a two man job. The presenter, and the person holding the device. The person holding the tablet will also be answering questions that anyone may have during the presentations, but you can also tell people to hold the questions until the end of the presentation.

Live Stream Show

This will take an enormous amount of time and preparation to do. This idea may need to wait until both apps have new features. The idea is to make a show from different Meerkat or Periscope accounts. This gives viewers different perspectives throughout the show. This is a big risk, and there is a high probability of failure in this endeavor. I recommend having a team already set-up and rehearsing this for several months in advance. Then creating content talking about the show. Finally creating content for the different handle names for each actor.

Live Stream Behind the Scenes

This could be used for musicians, movies, and tv shows. This is can be a behind the scenes of what the actors go through. It can also be an update on the project. This can extend the hype around the brand in the beginning stages. It also gives fans a glimpse that no one else can have. This will be great for a new movie franchise, or a new artist trying to break into the scenes.

Updates on a New Store

Launching a new brick and mortar store is expensive and has many hoops to jump through. Getting the proper permits and weather can delay the grand opening. With these apps, you can give updates on the store progress, and keep the energy going for the store. Since most of the time opening dates change this gives future customers something to look forward too, and each week you the business owner can highlight great or appealing aspects about the store.

Welcome to the Team:

Did you hire someone new? This is a perfect time to show your customer and welcome them to the team. Ask your new hire basic questions, and make your customers feel like part of the family.

Live Streaming and Podcasting:

Podcaster could live stream their shows. Many video gaming shows do with Twitch. However, many other industries do not have a Twitch, so, the next best thing would be to use Periscope or Meerkat. This could be another way to engage your audience with shows. Podcasters could do private shows to their faithful followers as well.

Do you agree with the ideas? What would you use for your business?
