Today’s Episode

It’s International Podcast Day! One of the best holidays of the year! Ok, it’s not really a holiday, but I love it. Show love to those podcasters you know. I also talk about the latest in gaming news. It’s funny that Ubisoft cares about quality. That’s a big surprise. Lately, they have released games that have problems. It’s not No Man’s Sky worthy, but, they’ve had problems. I’m glad they are holding their games back. It’s better to make quality games, then push them out.

Anyways, on with the show!

Welcome Agent

New York is under attack and there’s only one person that can save the city, you! A virus has decimated New York .  The Division is here to save New York. I tread through sewers, subway tunnels, buildings and the wintry streets of New York. So, is this third-person action/MMO game great? Let’s uncover the truth about this game!

Gamer‘s Cafe goes in the dark zone with a light! Yes, I have been playing The Division and have enjoyed it for the most part. I have seen some issues with it, but that does not make it a bad game. What I find head scratching is the day one DLC. I do believe publishers should just include that in the game. There is not need to take a small portion or some dumb outfit out to make more money. The best way is to make the game great. At least, they don’t affect gameplay. Ubisoft made the right choice in that regard. The Division is popular, though, it is the best-selling game for Ubisoft. The other funny thing about developers is when they say they are working on lots of projects and then retreat back from their own statements. Oops! Now onto other tech news!

Gamer’s Cafe looks to the sky for no man. Yes, No Man‘s Sky is now available for pre-order. It a great time to explore space sim games. Games like Eve Online, Elite: Dangerous and Star Citizen all out or coming out, this is a great time for the space sim genre. I’m excited to see this long-dominant genre making a return. It was odd that it vanished, but first person shooters really took the most developed game of the decade award. It’s a shame because there were many great space sim games that were never seen again. I’m talking to you Freespace and Star Wars. Anyways there more to talk about than that!

Gamer‘s Cafe Firewatched the Aliens Come! Yes, Gamer’s Cafe is back! I took a week of because I was sick, but now I’ve come back and there’s so much to talk about! First, Call of Duty is confirmed for 2016, which is no big surprise. Assassin Creed though is not going to come out this year. In an interesting move, Ubisoft decided to take a step back and reassess the franchise. I think this is a good move because the game felt old and stale. I do wish Call of Duty would take the lead and that, but that’s not going to happen. Other news topics are:

Gamer‘s Cafe talk about gaming news and the need for strategy games. Yes, I give my reasons why I think that strategy games need to come back. I do miss old Warcraft, CC,  and Total Annihilation. I am happy that Homeworld is back, but I think there needs to be more. I think publishers are missing a viable business for the next Call of Duty. Anyways, here are some news ideas I talk about.

First person shooters games are a dime a dozen. They are numerous, popular and above all, the same. Rainbow Six Siege hopes to change the formula, or at least, be different. Let’s see if this slow-paced, attack and defend strategy resonate with gamers. Also, if it’s any good because frankly, that’s why we play games!

The Division is shaping up to be a fun game. This video gives you a glimpse into The Division. Basically, make sure you trust your time and trust no one else. Being able to trust people will be tricky, but that’s the point of the game. The Dark Zone will be a PVP zone, so gamers that hate playing against other players should try to avoid it at all cost. The Division comes out March 8, 2016.
