Today’s Episode

The Game Awards was on Thursday. I did not see it because I was busy. I do think most people do not watch this because of many reasons. They seem to be like all the other awards shows out there. I rarely watch any of them. Why? I really don’t care about the awards. It’s nice when a game you like get recognition, but, gamer’s play games. We care about reviews. That’s really about it. Award shows are for the industry. They may have been for the gamers at one time, but, gaming is mainstream now. Oh well, game on!

It’s International Podcast Day! One of the best holidays of the year! Ok, it’s not really a holiday, but I love it. Show love to those podcasters you know. I also talk about the latest in gaming news. It’s funny that Ubisoft cares about quality. That’s a big surprise. Lately, they have released games that have problems. It’s not No Man’s Sky worthy, but, they’ve had problems. I’m glad they are holding their games back. It’s better to make quality games, then push them out.

Anyways, on with the show!

Two of the most anticipated games came out this month. Deus Ex and No Man’s Sky. They were talked about with enthusiasm. However, reality has set in and people are not happy about them. People had high expectations for No Man’s Sky and it did not deliver. I disagreed with those assessments, but, people have opinions. Deus Ex is another story. They changed their pre-order items. People were not happy about that. There have been bugs with the game. It should be interesting to see if these games sell well. It may not happen.

Anyways, on with the show!

The latest blunder in a long line of blunders in the gaming industry is Metal Gear. What the heck? I do not understand why they made it a co-op zombie game. This just sounds slapped on. I know the creator of the series left, but, come up with something original. If we are seeing the sad end to Metal Gear, then so be it. I am not interested in this at all. However, Deus Ex is coming out! That looks to continue what the prequel did so well. I cannot wait for this.

It’s a weird news item this week. The great and terrible thing is No Man’s Sky is released on PC. It’s one of the best or most played games this year. However, there have been some problems. People are complaining about bugs and glitches. This is not a shocker, but still frustrating.

There’s been an explosion of news coming from QuakeCon. Today, they revealed Prey and Quake Champions gameplay trailers. They got me excited for these games. Quake is bringing back the old school shooter vibe. This is lacking in many first-person shooter games. The reason, Call of Duty influence. This game has enhanced or infected first-person shooter games for years. Many developers tried to replicate their success. This usually led to clones that were not good. It’s great to see these old games coming back. It reminds all the old gamers about the heyday. It also makes you aware how old you are. It’s a great time to be a gamer!

Now, on with the show!

Valve is in a terrible situation. CS:GO is a great game and has made Valve lots of money. However, this betting scandal is not good. It has hurt Valve’s reputation and gained them a lawsuit. The problem is Youtuber’s. The fact that they gamed the system and conned people out of their money is terrible. I do hope some legal action gets taken against them. However, No Man’s Sky is in the news. This time, it’s bad. Sean Murray took a patent and used it in the game. I’m glad the company does not want to halt the release of the game. The problem is, patents are so hard to track, you may never know you are infringing on one.

Great news! Nvidia 1060 is out!

Evolve is an interesting game. It was an interesting concept that was bogged down by numerous DLCs. That lead to gamers no liking the game. It was a mess. Today’s Episode

The month of May has seen a few games released. We had Doom, Battleborn, Overwatch, Total War, and Homefront. Then announced this month we had the new Witcher DLC and Hitman episode 3. That’s six high-profile games released this month. It almost feels like November, but it’s not! I played a lot of Overwatch this week and it’s a great game. It’s very surprising because Blizzard is not known for making fps games. Yet, it seems they can make any type of game and make it work. The sad news here is No Man’s Sky may be delayed. This is an interesting game. The game is all about exploration and has little to no story. I hope it’s not, but, it could be. There is no official statement from the publisher or developer yet. Listen below for more gaming news.
