Halloween is right around the corner, and that means having a scary list of great scary video games to play! If you’re not like me (I do not like scary games) then, check out these games to give you a scare!

10. Doom 3

Yes, the scariest of the series. Doom 3 differed from the previous versions. Small corridors, more dark spaces, and, when it came out, no flashlight on your guns. There were plenty of jump scares from the demons of Mars. It was a good fun shooter that made you slowly walk through every new corridor.

9. The Evil Within 2

The sequel was so freaky, I could not finish it. Also, lots of gore. It gave me a good fright and some haunting scenes that are hard to forget. Even though the combat was ok, it was truly scary.

8. Outlast

A different take on scary games. Outlast brought a more pacifist side to the horror games. Armed with only a video camera and your wits. It challenged players to move deliberated, silent, and run screaming if all else failed. The gamer was doing the scream not the character. It was scary, I could not handle. However, people that love this genre will fair better than me.

7. Resident Evil 2

Ah, yes, memories of old games. Resident Evil 2 was a hit on the Playstation 2, and, scary in its own right. Back when you could not move and fire at the same time, Resident Evil games always brought a certain dread and fear. Not knowing what was around the corner and hopefully having enough ammo. The game brought a certain delicate balance to fighting evil, but, making sure you did not use up all your resources.
Instead of always aiming for the head, players had to “dismember” xenomorphs.

6. Alan Wake

One of the more interesting games. In Alan Wake, players had to shine a light on everything. I mean everything. The way it worked is that the darkness can only be killed by using the flashlight and shining a light on the enemies. Then, you can blow their heads off with your gun. It was an interesting take, that will sure to fright the best of you.

5. F.E.A.R.

First Encounter Assault Recon, was released at the time of The Ring and bullet time. It was an interesting mesh of The Matrix and The Ring. The little girl is doing everything she can to scare the player. The game used to jump scares to deliver an effective campaign of scaring me. Do not let the older graphics scare you, this game is difficult with the brilliant AI, and the scary little girl brings the perfect combination of death and horror.
However, if you have never moved, the alien would find you.

4. Amnesia: The Dark Descent

Step into the light. Also, make sure your lantern is always full of oil. It’s another interesting take on the horror genre. The player is a guy in a castle uncovering the mysteries. However, if the light goes out the darkness will consume you. Make sure to always be near a light source. Descent if you dare!

3. Resident Evil 7

The more innovative games of the Resident Evil franchise. It brought the first person view, and, rebooted the franchise from the terrible Resident Evil 6. It’s a game that will scare you. Resident Evil 7 is gore, very gore, with plenty of dread. The evil family has a secret they are hiding and so does your missing girlfriend. Find out the truth and save your girlfriend? You will only find out if you play the game!

2. Dead Space

No one can hear you scream in space! It’s because the character does not speak. It’s a game that brought horror to space. Even though movies had already done it, this, is the first time a developer did it successfully. It broke some of the tropes left by Resident Evil games. Instead of always aiming for the head, players had to “dismember” xenomorphs. These xenomorphs were very skilled at scaring you. Dead Space was a memorable game with scary moments.

1. Alien Isolation

By far the scariest game was Alien Isolation. The best Alien game so far. It lets players be Ripley’s daughter. While investigating what was going at a space station, you find out quickly it’s all gone to hell. Everyone is out to get you. The humans, android, and an alien. Alien Isolation terrified me. I hide my android phone. I jumped at every sound. The game did a great job of making players feel the terror of an alien hunting you. Players could hide under desks, in lockers, and in ventilation shafts. However, if you have never moved, the alien would find you. The ventilation shafts were the most deadly space. The sound design was excellent. What made it great was the directional sound. Players could tell where the alien was just by the sound. It was also helpful to bring out the motion tracker. If you want to pee your pants. Alien Isolation is the best game for you.
